Apply for a Concealed Pistol License in St. Joseph County

Concealed Pistol License (CPL) Information

Training Class

Applicants must take a state-required training class. Your certificate must include specific state-required language to be valid

Identification

A current Michigan Driver’s License or State ID showing your local St. Joseph County address is required at the time of application.

Fees & Prints

New: $100.00 + $15.00 Fingerprint fee.
Renewal: $115.00
(Cash, Debit, or Credit accepted. Additional fees apply for card payments.)

Fingerprints are now conducted at the County Clerk’s Office at the time of filing. Please call (269) 467-5602 for an appointment.

Process your application through the secure state portal. Renewals require your PIN.

Apply In Person

Obtain applications at the Clerk’s office, local police, or online via MSP. File at the Centreville ofice.

Application Approval Process

After fingerprints are electronically transferred to the Michigan State Police, a background check is performed. The Clerk’s Office will mail an Approval Letter with your license or a Disqualification Letter identifying the reason and source of denial.

New Applications: 45 days from fingerprinting.

Renewal Applications: 30 days from fingerprinting.

Important: If you fail to be fingerprinted within 45 days of filing, the application is automatically withdrawn. Applicants may only submit an application once per calendar year.
