Death Records
Vital Records Search (1993-Current)
This online search is provided as an aid for genealogical research. It allows you to verify if a death was recorded in St. Joseph County and obtain the record number. Note: The actual death record cannot be viewed through this interface. To view a full record, please bring the name and record number to the Clerk’s Office.
In-Person Viewing
Full death records can be viewed at the St. Joseph County Clerk’s Office. Write down the name and record number from the online search before your visit to expedite the process.
Certified Copies
Official copies are $20.00. Payments in-person can be made via cash or money order. For mail-in requests, please visit our Death Certificate Page.
Order Certified Records Online
Certified copies can be ordered through the Official Records Online Portal. Orders received before 2:00 PM are typically processed and mailed the same day. Online portal fees paid via credit card require a $10.00 convenience fee.
